Size of db file?

I have reached my 2 GB limit on an access file by putting too many large
photos into a file. I thought I had deleted the OLE image field to reduce
the size. Why is the file still showing 2GB,all but? What is the correct
way to delete a field name? Is it possible I haven't properly deleted the
photos?

Anybody able to throw some light on this matter, please?

I've never stored files in a DB (I always use file paths) so I'm not
sure if compacting it will help.
From then main menu, Tools>Database Utilities>Compact Database.
As you add to the DB, the actual file size will grow as it requires
more diskspace. Compacting it basically re-writes the DB to disk less
the unused file space - making the file smaller.

Have you compacted

Tools\Database Utilities\Compact and repair?

Dont forget to make a back up first

And, just a caution, you will need not only enough free space on your hard
drive to contain the compacted database, but empty space for workspace
during the compacting process -- likely as much as or more than the original
database.

And, I will echo MikeJohnB's admoniton: "Dont forget to make a back up
first".
