Hi

I'm going to buy the Asrock 939SLI32-eSATA2 motherboard.
http://www.asrock.com/product/939SLI32-eSATA2.htm

I've been told to go for the double sided memory as it will give me more
options, why is this?

What's the difference and does it really matter?

Also, anyone know aproximately, what the performance his would be between 2x
512MB DDR400 in dual channel and 1x 1GB single channel.

Thanks

Haymish

Whoever told you that is smoking something. All double sided means is
the ram stick has chips on both sides.

Nope, there is also electrically double sided too.

Abortion of a terminology, but it happens anyway.

I don't think he meant by "options" Single Side memory dimms are
generally 128mb or 256Mb.. I guess the "More options" states bigger
size.

2X512MB would be faster.. not only because of the "Dual Channel" but
the 512MB dimms have better lantency.. but 1GB would allow for a easier
upgrade path. Because most of the computer Greks knows never load all 4
memory slot if you want performance.
