I have not been paying attention to processors recently.

What is currently the highest performing PC processor for single-thread
programs. For instance, what is on top of SPEC CPU or SPEC FP ?

From what I searched it seems to be the Intel Core 2 Duo E6850.

ASUS P5K3 motherboard (Intel Core 2 Duo E6850) 20.2 18.7

What I would like to know is how much faster than an Opteron 270 it is.
I guessestimate 1.5x - 2x.
