I posted this as a suggestion to Microsoft by mistake:
I have trouble getting signed in to the discussions groups because there
isn't a "Sign In" button as indicated on the Welcome screen. I usually have
to click on New several times in order for the box to appear for me to enter
my email address and password. Where is this "Sign In" button located? I
don't see it.

On some interfaces there isn't one. Just click new and the sign in page
should appear fter you select question, question or suggestion.
