Sidewinder force feedback wheel (gameport version)

Hi,
I connected my Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel using Win XP. I added the wheel and it was detected correctly.
It also says status: OK.
The problem is, there is no force feedback in any of my games.

I tested the following games with different results:
"Mercedes Benz World Racing" the wheel works fine, but if FF is turned on, the game simply deactivates it again.
"Live For Speed" the wheel works fine, but again no Force Feedback.
"Need for Speed: Underground" doesn't work at all (has a framerate of 2fps) with the wheel plugged in. Above that there's no possibility to seperate the pedals, thus you're going reversve if you do nothing.
if I remember Correctly "Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2" had the same error.
"Race Driver" works fine without FF, but if you turn FF on the framerate is about 2fps and there are no FF Effects.
"Rallisport Challenge" works fine, but also no FF effects.
"Monster Truck Madness 2" doesn't work with FF either and you seperate the pedals which leads to the same effect as described witch "NFS: U".

Well, can someone tell me how to fix this, or is that all the Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel is supposed to do using the builtin "driver" for XP? And why is there no key-mapper tool and no way to test and adjust Force Feedback? If there is, can somebody tell me where?

Thanks in advance
Sincerely
Andy

Some of the games, especially when you're on Windows XP, need to have a
slight adjustment - like a 0 changed to 1 - in the .plr file or otherwise to
enable force feedback. I'd suggest you scout around the web sites for the
games for possible discussion boards where the question has been raised
previously. You could also post your question to the public
rec.autos.simulators newsgroup available on most news servers.

Hi there

I have exactly the same problem! Also can't test FF in XP and can't get FF in games like MS Midtown Madness.

Surely XP should still allow one to to test the FF of the wheel through the gameport config???

Hi to all.
I resume this old post because I've this problem:
for 2 year I used Microsoft force feedback wheel gameport version on Win Xp 32bit with feedback and split pedal axis working.
Now I've installed Win 7 on another partition and reinstalled Win xp 32 bit.
To make msff work I use a pci sound blaster 128.
Now when I go to control panel - game devices - add - Microsoft siderwinder (autodetect) the device is add to 'game devices' but the state is 'not connected'.
I have a realtek integrated audio device but for this 2 years I didn't had problem.
I don't remember what I've done to make the wheel working..
I tryed to set in control panel - multimedia - midi devices and select the SB pci instead of microsoft sinthetyzer but always not connected message...

Maybe a interrupt or IDs problem?
