sidebar gadgets

I have a friend that is on dialup, but insists on using sidebar
gadgets for temperature data in several cities. How might a person
change the default refresh rate for these gadgets so they are not
checking for updates so frequently.

You can't help people who don't want to help themselves. It is easy enough
to check on weather from a website.. suggest that..

Or locate the PC near a window ... instant weather gadget

occasionally and would change this as I have permission to make
changes that I see fit. In the mean time I cannot convince this
perpetual newbie to turn these off. Web pages on this PC load so slow
that this would not be an acceptable solution for this person who
likes this convienance.

Even on a fast connection, some sidebar gadgets can slow the whole machine
down.. tell your friend to go to the 'Weather Network' website and download
the 'notification area' versions which do not take so much out of
performance.

The problem with slowing down weather updates to refresh every hour maybe,
especially in the UK and Canada, is that one can experience all four seasons
within that time period, making mockery of what the gadget or icon might be
showing..
