Shutdown Takes To Requests

Hi, I have a Sony Vaio (VGN-S360) with Windows XP Home SP2. Sometimes when I
try to shutdown, the first attempt may only close one or two programs. It
takes a second start >> shutdown to actually shutdown the computer.
Sometimes one is all it takes. Also, if it matters, I often hybernate /
sleep the computer since it is a laptop. Thanks.

Certain versions of Norton Anti-virus caused this behavior.

Cannot shutdown or restart computer or log off users on Windows XP:

If that does not help, you may need to isolate the problem by clean-booting
