shutdown -t option ignored

Telnet to a command-shell system and execute "shutdown -t 10 -r."
Expectation is that the telnet session will remain active for 10 seconds and
then the XPe system will start to reboot. This is the behavior using the
same procedure against a desktop system however for the XPe system the
telnet session goes dead immediately suggesting the 10 second delay is
ignored. I would like shutdown to behave as documented therefore I am
looking for a resolution to this quirk.

I use often the same command in a remote desktop connection and the remote
connection is shutted down almost immediately, but the machine shutdown
after the set time.

Max,
No, I've tried this using several XP desktops as the target and everything
remains active, including the telnet session, until the shutdown time. That
is the sensible behavior because the wait time is commonly used to allow
users to save their work. With my XPe systems the telnet session becomes
inactive immediately.
