shut down computer

I have 2 computers that have windows XP with service pack 2 installed.
recently I downloaded the new search desk top and search internet explorer.
when I shut the computers I get message - end program #gen_windows # indexing
status. close all open programs to save your work before shutting the
computer. I have no open programs that I am aware of. why am I getting this
message? I also got the message that end program windows.search.e had to be
saved before shutting the computer. What do these messages mean? and how do I
keep from getting them when I shut down the computers.

Yes, this is a known issue. While indexer is indexing any file and shutdown
has been called then it does get into the state where it locks on other
processes and user will see End Task dialog. We have found different ways to
mitigate this issue and it will be fixed in next release. Sorry for any
unconvinced it may have caused.
