showing decimals query

I have a query that takes information from a table with figures that are
shown to 3 decimal places. The querey in question is trying to make a count
of these records but its not showing the correct figures.

Eg I have 3 items all showing the value of 0.250 so the count record should
show a total of 0.750 on my querie, BUT the result actuals shows 3.000. It
shows the record to 3 decimals but the addition is wrong.

Any clues.
