show vs. showdialog

I'm having fits with trying to get my application to work properly.
Basically, it is a cycle of forms. Once all five forms have been shown, I go
back to the first form. If I use showdialog, I get an error. If I use show,
the first form won't respond at all. I had this whole thing working, and I
don't know why all of a sudden it is behaving this way. I know what
Microsoft says the difference is between Show vs. ShowDialog, but from what
I've seen they aren't telling me the whole story. Does anyone know what's
going on here?

The first main form is shown by passing it to Application.Run
From there on you can show other forms in either of the two ways you
describe. The difference is in one case it is modal and in the other it
isn't.

Post a small reproducible sample and tell us what you are running on.
Describe the results you observe and what you would like it to do instead.
Then someone can help.
