show details instead of large icons by default

IE5&6 present large icons for folder content when folder
is opened.

Is there any way to change this default behavior, so that
details view or small icons are used instead?

Thanks in advance,

If you mean Windows Explorer, after changing the view click Tools | Folder
Options | View and click the button "Apply to All Folders".

Assuming you are changing the View, e.g. Alt-V,D, be aware also that
closing the window while pressing a Ctrl- key (e.g. clicking on X box)
*often* seems to make preferences persist.

(I use Frank's procedure as a last resort because it means that
other, perhaps different, saved preferences will be lost.)

Good luck

Thanks Frank and Robert,

But what I mean is the Internet Explorer (IE) (version 6)
When I open C:\Program Files in IE I see large icons.
With a right click /view/details I can show the details.

But how can one show this by default??
Our webapplication opens directories in a IFRAME and
we like the 'details view' as the default.

regards, eddie.
