"Show all windows in the taskbar" is greyed out

I am using MS Office 2007 Standard (and Windows XP Home, if that matters),
and I'd like to have Word open all documents in the same window, instead of
opening each new document in a new window. I know which option which is
responsible for this behavior ("Show all windows in the taskbar"), but,
unfortunately, it is greyed out, and I can't uncheck it. What is really funny
is that on the previous install of the same version of Office under the same
OS, this option was active and I was ableto successfully uncheck it. Is there
a way to un-grey it without a complete reinstall?

It may be an indication that the registry data key, where this information
is stored, is corrupt. Rename the key to OldData and see if that fixes it.

Never mind, it magically ungreyed itself after closing and re-opening Word
couple of times. Weird!
