Should be able to copy Building Blocks between templates

Thanks Beth, but this doesn't help me. The organiser is manual and you can
only edit one Building Block at a time. I need to copy many 'Autotext'
entries to many templates. This is not a one-off task. We periodically
update the entries.

It may transpire that we change our methods when we move to 2007.
Alternatively I will be looking for a vba solution.

What are you currently doing in Word 2003 (or whatever version you currently
have) and in what way would you like to change the behaviour in Word 2007?

We are currently running with Word 2003 and have a highly customised Word
environment. This is applied across 8 offices. Each office has it's own
template that contains Autotext entries specific to that office and firm wide
Autotext entries. From time to time the firm wide autotext entries may
change and these are copied across to the other templates. I currently use
the Organiser to do this. Also, when a template suffers bloat and needs to
be rebuilt, I use the Organiser to copy over macros, Autotext & styles to the
newly created template.

In Word 2007 I am looking for a method of copying a group of Autotext
entries (or Building Blocks) to another template. I do not want to edit an
individual Building Block and change it's template. This is too time
consuming when it has to be done over several templates. I haven't reviewed
the changes to vba at this stage, but this is my next option.

Why don't you just have the firm-wide Autotexts / Building Blocks in their
own Template? This could then be rolled out whenever there were changes
without affecting anything else.

Yes Tony, I may have to do just that. However, the copy will still be
missed. A lot of the Autotext are the same for each office, but just have
office specific data. It's easier to copy the AutoText and then make the
minor mods.

Anyway thanks all for you help.
