Sharing with Direct Cable Connection (Serial)

hi there,

i got 2 pcs. 1 is a desktop with XP pro and the other is a laptop with XP pro as well. my desktop is setup with a workgroup but my laptop is setup to a domain for office use. i managed to get both of the pcs connected by setting up my desktop as host and my laptop as guest using a null modem serial cable. the connection speed is max at 115.2KBPS. i also shared my host entire hardisk (2nd partition).

the problem is i conldn't see my host pc from my laptop by exploring entire network. i would like to backup my host pc files into my laptop CD-R drive.

what kind of setting should i do to make files sharing possible between my 2 pcs? really appreciate any help.

thank you.

Wow, thats the hard way. Just drop the domain when you're
home. Do you have admin right s to the laptop to do this?

it is that hard? it is because of the workgroup and the domain thing? i do have the admin for my laptop. if i drop the domain, i will not able to get back my office domain because need a network admin to do that.

so how?
