Sharing Category Lists

Neil Dittmar

Hello All,

Is there any other way to share an Outlook 2003
categories list besides a registry export? We are running
Outlook 2003 against Exchange 2003 server and I was
wondering if there was some server side function/method
that I could use to make them "public". Any help or
suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

No, the master category list is kept in the user's Windows registry so you'd
have to copy all desired categories to that registry key and make sure it's
in the correct location and format or use something like the method
suggested at http://www.outlookcode.com/d/forms/reqcat.htm

In Outlook 2000 and earlier the categories are stored in a REG_SZ value as
ANSI strings, in later versions they are stored as REG_BINARY values in a
Unicode format.

No, only export works - they are stored locally.

This may help: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/olcat.htm#consistent
