Sharing a Printer does not work

The notebook trying to access the printer that is hooked up to the other
computer is able to find the printer when I select "Browse/Connect to this
printer". I receive the message that it will

"The server does not have the correct print driver installed"

I Googled this problem, and a someone had this exact problem and posted it
in a forum. Someone responded with a solution, but neither the original
poster nor I understand what to do to solve the problem. Maybe someone else
can figure out what is being said.

The printer is hooked up to a computer with Windows Vista.

The other computer on the network has XP.

I went to the website for my printer and attemtped to download different XP
drivers on both computers (except the , but nothing worked.

When I attempted to install the plug and play driver, the installation says
it can not find the printer (but as I mentioned earlier, Windows is able to
locate the printer).

You need to go to the Vista PC, go to the Control Panel, Printers, right
click on the printer, select Properties, then in the Advanced Tab, add the
drivers for XP to the Vista PC. So either you will burn the file you
downloaded from the HP website to a CD and physically take it to the Vista
PC... or if the Vista PC has internet access, download again from the HP
website..... or transfer the file(s) using your network.

If it's an *.exe file, you probably want to run it on the Vista PC. It may
tell you that it cannot run because the operating system is incorrect. In
this case, you will have to use WinRar to expand the file into a folder
(remember where you put it), and when you add the extra drivers to the Vista
PC, point it to where you expanded the folder. It should find the file(s)
and install them by itself.

Then when you go back to the XP PC, it will have the drivers you need.

Alternatively, when it tells you that the 'server' does not have the correct
drivers installed, run the *.exe file on the XP PC, and then go through the
process again. By now the XP PC does have the drivers installed and should
find them.

What I try to add the drivers through the Properties of the printer, it will
only allow me to select .inf files (no idea why this would be since these are
notes I believe).

When I tried to run the .exe file on the Vista machine, it tells me that it
can not find the printer. The same thing happens when I run it on the XP.

When you say expand the file, it seems that the files are expanded already
into a "Hewlett Packard" folder.

The *.inf file is the instructions for the install. It's what every
hardware device looks for. They are not notes, but crucial pieces of
information to Windows.
