shared printer "Access Denied"

I have a Desk system running XP with a Canon MP810 shared, which i was able
to connect to from a laptop also running XP. I have replaced that laptop with
a new one running Vista Premium. From the new laptop I can access shared
files on the desk system, and the shared printer is visible from the laptop,
but I always get the "access denied" message when trying to connect. I also
have Norton Network Security 2007 running on both systems, with each system
trusting the other by listing their MAC addresses as trusted in the firewall
settings. I get the "Access denied" message even when the firewall and
intrusion protection options are turned OFF on both systems, so I think it is
not the firewall. Open to suggestions.

From the Vista machine open a command window and view the directory
structure on the XP machine

dir \\XPmachine\print$

you should get a list of the directory structures for the shared printer
driver files.

If you get access denied it's a network authentication issue. Here are some
details on sharing in Vista, although I think the problem is on the XP
machine.
