Shared Folder Presentation

I did a search and haven't found much in the way of solutions so I apologize
if this has been discussed. Here's my issue:
We have locations all across the country, and all of our VP's, etc, are all
off-site (not necessarily a bad thing!) but we do a weekly conference call to
discuss status of various projects. We've created a template file that
project managers can use to create a ppt presentation that standardizes the
presentations. The PM's then create the presentation every week with the
latest and greatest data, and the files are saved in a shared folder, zipped,
and emailed to 20-30 recipients. Obviously it's a huge file for the network
to carry, and it means each recipient has to download it into their inbox,
etc. To correct this, I built a web style presentation, with pages for all of
the projects, and rather than have the PM's saving files in the presentation,
I'd like to keep it simple for them and let them keep saving it as is and
I'll just link to their files - not a big deal. The problem is if I package
it as a CD and select to use a folder instead of a CD, it won't save it is
html, it switches to a ppt file. When remote users open the folder (it will
be on our shared server so they can remote access it and no longer a need to
email it), they'll see all of the presentations. The advantage of the web
presentation is it hides the framework from them so they only see slides I
have linked, not any inactive slides, etc. Is there a way to package as a CD
so it pulls all the required documents and other presentations, yet still
have the presentation either auto-start, or still work as an html? The folder
will have a large amount of files (word document contract files, MSProject
Gannt charts, other powerpoint presentations for each project, etc) and I'd
like to make this as user friendly as possible. Now that I'm looking for a
publisher for my novel I just wrote...any suggestions?

Let's publish the HTML first. Later we'll work on the novel and talk about
movie and TV rights <g>.

If I understand you correctly:

- Package for CD is just a way of getting everything assembled in a single
folder with links intact; you're not going to make a CD.

- The ideal solution would allow you to convert multiple presentations to HTML,
make them all accessible via links from (the html version of) another master
presentation. Other links might point to e.g. Word docs and you want those
links to stay valid.

If that sounds about right, and if animation isn't a crucial aspect of your
presentations, have a look at our PPTools PPT2HTML addin. There's a free demo
at http://www.pptools.com/ppt2html/

Among other things, it can be set up so that it assumes that all links to PPT
files should be converted to HTML links (ie, that the PPTs will be converted to
HTML also). It'll automatically copy movies and sounds to the target output
folder. It'll also set links to other external files (doc, xls, etc) to point
to the filename alone rather than to a full path, so if you copy them to the
same folder as the html, the links will work.

If you try that and want to pursue the idea, give me a shout (steve at-sign
pptools dot com) and we can talk about ways of automating even the linked file
copying.

There's also a batch version that'll convert all your files automatically. Bit
more money, that one. <g>

Is there a way to package as a CD
so it pulls all the required documents and other presentations, yet
still
have the presentation either auto-start, or still work as an html? The

Gannt charts, other powerpoint presentations for each project, etc)
and I'd

If I can undertand it correctly , it sounds that you want to
1. Include the required documentations and some presentations
2. Auto-Run presentations
3. Presentations work like html with a web browser
4. Retain the access to other files
5. User-friendly accesss to these presentations

If it is, you can try this alternative: Converting your powerpoint
presentations to flash

You use a powerpoint to flash converter like PPT2Flash Professional
then you have
1. Flash presentations which can play with a web browser and viewers
are not required to have PowerPoint or PowerPoint Viewer installled on
their computers. Neither the need to download the file for viewing.

2. Auto-run Flash presentations. You can send a URL of the flash
presentations to the recipent. When the URL is clicked, it will
automatically start playing within a web broweser.

3. Flash presentations that work well with a browser. Flash is web-
friendly format and it is easier to delivery on web.

4.Retain the access to other files.
When converter to flash with PPT2Flash Professional, all the files
that have been inserted to PowerPoint presentations as attachment will
be retained in the flash as a hyperlinks. This converter also has the
feature to manage all the attachment inserted in PowerPoint.

5.Animations, Transitions, audio, bullets, notes, and other
PPT2Flash Professional preserves the animations, transitions ,audio,
bullets , notes and other applied effects in PowerPoint.

6. User-friendly accesss to these presentations
Just send a URL of the converted flash presentation and a click in the
browser will make things done.
