Shared border and htm vs html

Hi - I use FrontPage 2002 and Windows xp. This last year I changed our site
to use shared borders so that I could manage the left side index/map of the
site from the home page. My site is in html - one day when I was having
trouble learning how to use the shared borders etc I noticed in the "borders"
folder that I had only the left border in htm not html, so I went ahead and
saved it in html. Recently when the site took forever to save, I tried to
delete the htm copy and found that even if I seeminly manage to do so it
reappears by itself. Do I want to go ahead and just keep the htm copy. Will
my pages in html work alright with the htm copies of the shared borders in
htm? I also have a bottom shared border with the same problem.

My question is what is the best thing to do at this point. I don't want to
have a problem with the site, or destroy it by mistake.

Thank you for your help, Chris

The only page that actually needs to have the .html extensions is your default document (home page),
all other page can stay as .htm.

FrontPage shared border files are named with .htm extension. Do not change
them.
..html pages will work perfectly with .htm borders - there is no operational
difference.

HTML is a *nix (UNIX Linux) thing for the most part and .htm is a Microsoft
convention. Other than that there's no difference between the two.

Oh yes.
One has an extra "L".
