Shadow on Text Color?

Microsoft says that you have no control over the shadow toggle effect
for text boxes, and that' what I always thought--starting a new
document, the only option I have using this effect is a gray shadow.
But, I was just sent a document created by someone else in which that
shadow effect is black (and less offset too.) I can't format paint the
black effect into the new document, nor can I cut and paste. When I cut
and paste, the shadow automatically changes to the more offset gray.

I know, a way around this is to use the box shadow controls, but I
really want to know if there is some hidden preference that turns the
auto text shadows to black or gives you control...

I'm stumped.

Found an answer to my question! The color on auto text shadow seems to
be affected by what the background color of the page is. So, I changed
my backgrounds and all is now good. Microsoft just loves hiding things
from you, don't they...

nhaims,

I'm of the thinking that the Text shadow (and not the object shadow) is
controlled by the color of the background.

If the background is BLACK, then the text shadow is white
If the background is White (or any other color but black), then the shadow
is black,
If the background is Gray, then I'm not sure what happens!

They may have used the shadow tool and applied it to the text box, not to the
text. Unless you select the text box and copy and paste the box, the shadow
will revert to text shadow. That's also why the Format Painter isn't working
for you. The color of the shadow in this case is controlled by the Color Scheme
for the template.
