Shaded areas in excel charts won't print in powerpoint

I've taken a lot of time to construct charts in Excel that have shaded areas
representing previous recessions. when i copy these into power point the
shaded areas are visible, but when i print out a presentation they disappear
or are printed in inverse form (if that makes sense). any ideas why this is
happening and what the solution might be?

I'm not sure why it happens. This may help, if your shading is a gradient:

Even if not, try right-clicking the selected chart, choosing Save as Picture
and saving, perhaps using PNG, in case there is some transparency
information. Then insert the image file in place of the original chart. This
would make it static of course; I don't know if you have the data linked.

Hi ellen,

when i save as a PNG there is a dramatic loss of clarity ... ie, the picture
is very blurred. Will try the powerpoint 2007 fix as suggested in the link.
