hello,im trying to use the windows filechecker on my xp and it prompts me for
the cd which i insert but still asks for it..i extracted the i386 folder from
my cd to my hard drive..the registry settings i need to change to tell the
filechecker to look on my drive are different it seems and i cant get it to
work..in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Setup there is no source path key, only an (installation
sources)key which points to my cd drive..i changed it to c:\ ,my hard
drive, and it still prompts for cd...thx

Hi Grey,

Mention the Service Pack level of your computer. In the meantime, check the following articles:

You are prompted to insert a Windows XP SP2 CD when you try to run the System File Checker tool on a Windows XP SP2-based computer:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900910

You may be prompted to insert a Windows XP Professional CD when you run the System File Checker tool in Windows XP Home Edition:
