Sfc /scannow prompts for Windows CD.
This problem can occur if the source path file in the registry is corrupted:
To solve this problem, perform the steps given below:
1. Click start
2. Click run
3. Type regedit and press enter
4. Browse to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
Now, double-click the Source path entry on the right window. Check whether
the path is the same as the path where the I386 folder is located. This I386
folder will be used to retrieve the system dlls whenever you use the sfc/
scannow command. If not enter the exact path.
Also, check this path for the same key
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Setup
NOTE: The Source Path entry does not include the path location till the I386
folder. It completes one folder ahead to reach the I386 folder.
Now, use the command.
