Setup of Outlook

Hi All

Windows XP Pro running Outlook Express 6 connected to an
ISP.

I installed Microsoft Office 2003 and wanted Outlook my
Office Outlook to become my main mail client. I input
the details about my ISP during the setup, that's POP3
and SMTP. Everything seems correct. I ran a test. the
test failed but did not prevent an email test from
sending the test. The email test landed in my Outlook
Express Inbox folder.

I went back to my Outlook and tried to send an email.
After a short attempt to send it, it failed. An error
occurred:

Task 'pop3... - Sending' reported error
(0x80040900) : 'The server name you entered can not be
found on the network (it might be down temporarily).
Please verify that you are online and that the server
name is correct.'

This error message is saying "pop3 sending" whereas the
Setup Wizard says "Incoming Mail Server (POP3)" next to
which I entered the POP3 Server. How can I make it work
and how can I set my Outlook as my main mail client?

Can anyone please help ?

Many thanks

Best

Best,

When I type "default email" in my Outlook 2003's Help window the third
choice listed is "Make Outlook the default program for E-mail, Contacts, and
Calendar" which states:

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Other.
Under General, select the Make Outlook the default program for E-mail,
Contacts, and Calendar check box.

Thanks Miss Mae,

That box was ticked.

Also I would like to apologise for having reported in my
previous posting that "I input the details about my ISP
during the setup, that's POP3 and SMTP. Everything seems
correct." No, it wasn't. I entered the wrong POP3
information. When this was corrected, Send and Receive
worked. It seems fine in this area now.

But I still have the issue of making my Outlook as my
default Mail. If I opened Outlook, the dialup connection
does not popup whereas when I open Outlook Express, the
dialup popups. If I sent an email, this will be picked
up by my Outlook Express, unless if I first click
on "send/Receive" of Outlook before the email lands in
Outlook Express.

Thank you or anyone else who may have an idea.

Best,

Why don't you Google "outlook default mail" and see all the posts there? I
did. Here is a sample of one of many posts that may help if you SEARCH
Google Groups.

To set Outlook as your default mail client, please follow the steps below:
