Setting Up Windows Mail

J

jvmulligan

I am attempting to setup a windows email account, I have tried several
variations and after reading windows helps it seems that I cannot send
emails. I also have Yahoo as my normal mail system, where it seems to stop
me is the authentication process, I have checked the box to authenticate,
then deleted the account after no success. Either way I still recieve
errors. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I would contact your Internet Provider who can provide you the proper data as
well as guide you through it to insert for settings in the Windows Mail
Account. Your Server may not require authentication. Setting up Windows
Mail should have no affect with your Yahoo Mail account.

US-based free Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no POP
access. Windows Mail does not handle Yahoo webmail.
There are two possible solutions:

1. How did you access Yahoo mail before? If you are happy with
webmail via your browser, you can continue to use that.

2. Pay Yahoo to get their premium "Mail Plus" service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/overview/index.html
and use the special settings for that service:
