setting up a message rule w/o an email file to use

I have 2 email boxes, 1 business, 1 personal. Personal is NOT set up on my
blackberry for obvious reasons but a couple people use this box. I'm trying
to set up a message rule that replies to business associates to use my
other(business) email box but when I create the rule it only allows you to
"reply with message" and then opens up my Documents folder looking to open up
a *.eml type message. I tried creating a message and saving it as .txt and
using that reply but in testing it with my own email it's not displaying the
message.

can anybody help???

No where does it let me save as.... .eml Notepad and Word2007 don't allow it.
Instead of saving it as .txt, why didn't you save it as .eml?

From within Notepad: File, Save As, click the down-arrow at the end of the
"Save as type" box, then select All Files (*.*). Type in a File Name such as
sample.eml. Click OK.
Alternatively, you can also rename sample.txt to sample.eml.

thanks...I renamed it and here is the rule (thanx for helping w/this btw, I
KNOW I'm overlooking something obvious), cut&pasted, where I put in (X'd out)
the 2 people as a test and MY business box so I could try it/test it.
the "to" line is my personal box (x'd out) that I don't want several people
to use and the Please don't.eml is the .txt file, renamed, and cut&pasted
below, that I wanted to kick back to them. When I tried it, sending from my
"business" box to my "personal" box, I'm getting the test email but not
getting the Please don't.eml file.

Any ideas?
THE RULE CUT&PASTED:
Apply this rule after the message arrives

Where the From line contains '(e-mail address removed)' or '(e-mail address removed)' or
'(e-mail address removed)'

and Where the To line contains '(e-mail address removed)'

Reply with C:\Users\Dale\Documents\Please dont.eml

CONTENT OF PLEASE DONT.EML CUT&PASTED:

Please do not send email to this account. It is not accessed and will be
deleted from my server. Please send all email to: (e-mail address removed)

Thank you

I tested this out, and it does work, sort of.
It sends the auto-responder reply as an attachment. At first glance, the
recipient will think he received a blank message, until he notices the
attachment.

Also, one requirement is that the From addresses
( '(e-mail address removed)' etc.) cannot be accounts that exists on your
responding computer. It looks to me like the '(e-mail address removed)' account
does exist on your computer.

Wow. There's gotta be an easier way. I just want to send an auto-reply to
selected people. I actually set up my son's email to receive this message,
went on a different computer, and sent a test email from his box. An email
DID come back (as an attachment email like you said) but all it said was
"Thank you" For some reason it didn't get the whole message replied.

Would it be easier in Outlook? I started using that a couple months ago as a
contact database because it integrates fairly simply with my blackberry and I
grew tired of ACT.

I can't advise you about Outlook since I'm not an Outlook expert.

Note that most mail providers allow you to set up an auto-responder
(often called vacation response) via their webmail portal.
