Set up

Allright here is what I am going to be setting up. We will be upgrading to
Active Directory. I have one office with about 50 users, another office
with about 20 users and one with just 3 users. The two branch sites (20 and
3 users) are connected to the internet via cable modem. The main site is
connected via DSL. Should I set up the computer in the central location
with the other two sites as OU's or should I use separate domains? I
believe that I will set it up the latter way.
thanks for the help

Why do you feel the need to setup 3 domains?

The question is how reliable the connections are and what bandwidth is
available on them for AD traffic. If they meet both needs then you should
use 1 domain with 3 sites, and if they are not reliable or do not have ample
bandwidth only then should you consider breaking it up further imho.

More domains = more work on your part. You have to duplicate your efforts.

Not if it can be avoided. As Danny says, more domains is more work. And
therefore should be avoided if its not needed. Extra domains cause you more
work to setup and support, more confusing options for users, specially those
who move between offices, more potential for problems...

I'm not saying "Don't do it", I'm saying "Think about your needs and then
meet those needs, don't just pick child domains because it sounds simple, as
its not as simple as it sounds"
