I have completed adprep/forestprep & domainprep on a windows 2000 server DC.
I have added a Winders server 2003 server DC to the domain sucessfully.

I am in the process of upgrading the 2000 server to 2003 (after I
update/remove old software), but in the meantime, do I need to do anything to
the PCs & laptops that connect to the domain? Upgrade them in some fashion?
or should they just function fine the way they are now?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you shouldn't need to do anything to the clients. If the new DC is also your
second DNS server you might want to add it's address to the dhcp scope
options so the clients have a secondary dns configured.

good luck and i hope this helps!

Unfortunately, after doing all those step, my users (pcs & laptops) can no
longer see the network???!!!!! The servers are all up, the pcs are saying
that the network cables are basically now dead - any ideas???????

when you said "the pcs are saying that the network cables are basically now
dead" do you mean that on all workstations there is a red X over the adapter
as if it were disconnected?

If that's not what you mean can you explain the exact feature that isn't
working and the message you get when you try it?

Yes, that's what I mean - but not to worry ;-) When in doubt, re-boot
everything ;-) I rebooted both servers & voila, connectivity returned ...
banging my head against the wall for nothing >:-0

Thank you for your help.
