Set up text boxes that differ in font size from those on the sl ma

I have been aggravated for about 18 months with a certain scenario in .PPT.
I have a slide master set up for 3 levels of fonts - that works fine.
However, on most slides of most presenations I create, I like to add
additional text boxes that default to a different font size.

For example, if my default font is 24, I'm able to create all base content
ok. If I go back and add an additional text box to the slide, I get some
other random font. In one series of presentations its ARial 11 in another its
Arial Bold Italic centered 16. The things is, I have no idea how these fonts
got set up as defaults. Nor can I override them. Have tried setting up
addtional text boxes on the master, tried setting up the text boxes (with
fonts I want to use) as a default object. Nothing seems to be able to
override the mystery font settings that Powerpoint has selected for text
boxes.

Help if you can - I'm beginning to tweak

Hello,

You must set up the default font for text boxes separately from the
placeholder (master) font for each presentation. To do this, create a text
box then format it as desired. Then with the text box selected, go to Format

Font. Check the Default for new objects box.

Yeah, I've tried that a few times and can't get it to work.

Though, oddly (and this seems to happen a lot). I found the solution
immediately after posting my query. I noticed that if I clicked anywhere on
the master slide it self, outside of a text box, the goofy font was set as a
default. And for some reason that setting would override whatever text box I
created.

However, changing the default setting, outside of a text box, seemed to fix
the issue..

Hey, that's what I get for being self-taught.
