Services.exe takes 40 to 60% of CPU usage

this is how it looks like
i have p4 2.8, geforce 4 128mb, 1gb RAM,
with winXP pro sp2

i cant just kill the services.exe
it says "This is a critical system process. Task Manager
cannot end this process".
its slowing down all my work, can someone happen to know
how to fix this? i run Norton Anti-Virus 2004, Spy
Sweeper, Ad-aware6.0, nothing found. please help me.

try and find out whats running in their. Execute
TASKLIST /SVC from the command prompt.
This command is supplied with xp pro, but if you have home,
you can download it from here:
http://www.computerhope.com/download/winxp.htm

The normal thing to do is to see if stopping the related
services relieves the high cpu.
For example, use SERVICES.MSC to momentarily stop
the plug and play service.

IF that's it, you'll have to research why this service
may be hogging the cpu.
