"Services" Dependencies

Many of the Dependencies listed in 'Services' are named "Remote
Procedure Call (RPC)." I'm not exactly sure what this means. I'm not
on a network (other than dial-up internet) and am the only user. Can
any of the services that list this item as a dependency be disabled?

I tried earlier today several times, but none of the links on the page
were working. I just tried it again and the same thing was occurring.
I'm using netscape 7 and decided to try it with I.E. and go the info I
needed. It seems fewer and fewer web pages are working well with
Netscape. Thank you AOL.
