After running a virus checker, win xp home is not acting right. It will not
allow connection to the internet or email. (Normal internet connection is
wireless via a 2Wire modem.)
When i start win, an error message says "Service program is not active."
Have looked in KB - no result. Have run windows setup - no change.
Please help!!
Thanks in advance.

Max,

Did the virus checker find any problems? Did it make any changes? I'd start by
looking at LSP / Winsock and TCP/IP problems.

Chuck, THank you soooo much. Went to your blogspot and found the solution.
It must have been a corrupted LSP/Winsock in XP SP2 because running cmd and
typing in netsh winsock reset catalog COMPLETELY fixed the problem Thank you
again soooo much. Max
