Service pack 2

I recently downloaded Service Pack 2 and have had
constant breakdowns ever since.
The breakdowns are reboots in the middle of an operation,
which is highly frustrating and unpredictable.
I had absolutely no problems before I downloaded the
Service Pack.

Can you get to Event Viewer (in the Administrative Tools applet in
Control Panel) to try and get some clues as to what is failing? One
thing to do is disable the automatic reboot on failure by from the
Control Panel System applet. Once there, click on Advanced>Startup and
Recovery>Settings and under System Failure uncheck "Automatically
Restart". This should give you the Blue Screen with the Stop Error,
which you can then research here:

You have something running that is incompatible with SP2, probably a
driver, but until you have more clues it is impossible to guess without
seeing your machine.
