Service Pack 2 Update

Chris

I have just installed Service Pack 2 on one of my
machines but now that machine can not run Windows Update.

I have posted this problem on other sites and other
people seem to think its to do with objects that are
found in C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files but i am not
sure that is correct.

The machine that has this problem doesnt have the objects
there. The other machines that have service pack 2 do
have them installed. Could this be the probelm, if either
how do i fix it.

Download program files is a location for storing browser plug ins for
Internet Explorer, and you should have the windows update plug in ( a v5 plug
in). If you do not, you may have to reestaablish it through windows update.

Have you posted your question to the experts in the windows update
newsgroup? Here is the link:

Also give more details about the specifics of can not run windows
update. What steps do you take and what exactly happens, any error
messages and if so what they are verbatim.

Here are some references to troubleshoot windows update:

and From a previous post by Torgeir Bakken:

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

http://groups.google.com/[email protected]

If nothing there worked, try the steps in this post:

If that didn't work either, check that WuWebControlClass is enabled in
Internet Explorer:
