i am trying to install service pack 2.
i have a netgear router and a belkin gigabit pci network card

when finished windows only recognises the card as a hidden card and i cannot
connect to the internet.

is this a similar problem like the bluetooth and service pack 2?

Any ideas.

Upgrade to SP2 is being well discussed in the windowsupdate group - together
with the additional 50-60 criticals after you manage to install SP2. Well
worth a bit of research.
Here is the link via newsreader.

You have I believe posted your thread in the rather slow/archaic web
interface discussion groups.
There is an update group there I believe. You may wish to post there as
well.

Not sure what you mean by "Windows only recognizes the card as a hidden
card", but on another working computer, go to the Belkin website and
download the latest XP driver for the card, and install it in device
manager. To get the driver files onto the computer in question, you could
use a USB memory stick or burn a CD or whatnot.

I have downloaded the drivers from Belkin.

In Device Manager, the belkin card only appears when the hidden device
option is checked and does not appear in Network Connections.

this has meant I cannot connect to the internet or receive mail or connect
to other computers in the local network.

You have a driver problem.
Remove / uninstall the card in device manager and reboot.
Let it try to redetect the card.
If that doesn't work, you may need to do it again and go through the
registry to remove shards of the driver in there - but this is not without
risk.
