service pack 1 for windows 2000

I was trying to download the sp1 express installation and
I keep getting the following error message.
Service pack setup error
The version of windows 2000 you have installed does not
match the update you are trying to install.

Please advise on what I'm doing wrong. This all started
when I upgraded my computer from 98 to windows 2000.

Right click on My Computer, and select properties. That
will tell you what version and service pack you currently
have. If you have a later service pack than 1, it won't
install.

Or, you have a bootleg version of W2K, and it won't
install.
