Service control manager error 7001

I am looking at the system event viewer and I am seeing hundreds of
instances of error 7001 showing. It seems that the error occurs every 5
minutes or so.
The description reads as follows:
"The remote access connection manager service depends on the telephony
service which failed to start because of the following error: The service
cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no
enabled devices associated with it."
Why am I getting this error message so often?
Is it something I should even worry about?
I do not use any remote access options on this computer and I have the
dial-up modem disabled because I am using a cable modem. The error occurs
even if the phone modem is enabled.
Is there a way to stop these errors from clogging up the error log? I am
not seeing any negative effects as a result of these errors.
Windows XP media center SP2
Sorry if I am rambling. Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

This is similar to the error message described here: "Event ID 7001 Is
Logged in the System Event Log"

Thanks for your interest, but the article you refered me to applies to
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. I am using Windows XP Media Center 2002 SP2.

That's OK, it's all NT. Try doing what the article suggests anyway;
i.e., enabling NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Do this by going to the Control
Panel's Network Connections. Right-click on your local area network
connection and then left-click on Properties. Now select Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button. On the resulting
TCP/IP Properties box, click the Advanced button at the lower right,
and then the WINS tab. Change the radio button selection from Default
to Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. OK all the way out.

I looked at the settings for the non-PNP device that was mentioned in the
article and it was already enabled.
Further, I looked at the TCP/IP properties that you described and made the
switch to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
These actions may prove to be somewhat redundant because the errors stopped
occuring when I enabled the Telephony service (TapiSrv).
I would prefer not to have services running that I have no intention of
using but at the same time I don't want to see a log full of errors either.
Any ideas as to why the errors occur? i.e. What triggers the error response?
Is something wanting to use my modem? A dialer perhaps?

P.S. sorry for the double post. I thought I should include the original
message.
