Server vs. 1 User (at a time)

What kind of database are you using? .mdb?

All MS databases can be accessed by multiple users, I
think you are thinking of other types of files
(spreadsheet).

Jay:

Yes, it's an .mdb file...

Hmh, not sure what you mean that ALL MS dbs can be
accessed by multiple users at the same time.

Having tried this, I opened up the mdb file and a co-
worker next to my office next opened the same file. He
did get the READ ONLY dialog box and could not make any
changes until I closed my file, and he then reopened the
file.

Thanks for the feedback anyhow,
Tom

Assuming that both you and your co-worker don't have your
open box set to exclusive, you might also check this:

us;103254&Product=acc97

There is no reason why an .mdb file cannot be opened by
several people (remember, though, that determining how you
do record locking, certain RECORDS may be uneditable while
others are editing).
