server to domain

Is it possible that someone can help me with the information on server joining the domain as an additional domain but both of the machine are having the different network segments. Does the server that needs to join the domain must have DNS lookup zone (do I need to create the zone first). I need to know exactly what I am suppose to do. Another question is do I need to scan for virises before I join the domain or after.

If you need information about a host joining a domain then take a look at the following KB article(s):
ID: 295017 How to Change a Computer Name or Join a Domain in Windows XP WGID:358
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=295017

You need to configure your router to allow each pc to communicate to each to other (i.e ping each other) if they are on different segments.
The server that needs to join needs to be configure with the IP address of the DNS server that is authoritative for the domain (zone).
Also the domain controller needs to register its SRV records with the DNS server that owns the zone.
As far as viruses, it is a good idea to check for viruses before and after.
