server not recognising image file

christian hughes

I am using FrontPage 2000 and have recently switched from Windows 98 to
Windows XP on my computer. Now when I try to upload images to my website I
am getting the error message:
"Server error. Cannot open file "xxx.jpg.tmp" for writing"

The image is saved as xxx.jpg in "My Pictures", so i presume the .tmp is due
to the file being transferred to a Temporary file somewhere on my computer
before it is sent to the server?? can anyone help/ suggest the cause and
solution
Thanks
Christian Hughes

The error is being generated from the web server, not your local machine.

The image needs to be in a location inside your web before you link to it.

The error
"Server error. Cannot open file "xxx.jpg.tmp" for writing"
is often associated with a lack of space on the server - either the
server's hard disc is full, or you have insufficient space left in
your hosting account.

Images should be imported into your website before being used - or is
this what you mean by "upload"?
The xxx.jpg.tmp is a temporary file FP uses during the publishing
process. It is on the server, not your PC.
