SERIOUS PROBLEM - OUTLOOK 2007 CRASHES

G

Guest

When I open Outlook 2007 and start to veiw an Email, whether it's by opening
or via the preview pane, the program immediately crashes.

Error
AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 12.0.4518.1014 AppStamp:4542840f
ModName: mspst32.dll ModVer: 12.0.4518.1014 ModStamp:45428111
fDebug: 0 Offset: 000990e7

I have repaired, using the scanpst.exe, the PST file thinking it may be
corrupted
I have used Office Diagostic to Repair any corruption.
I have read for 10 hours on anything I could find on the subject.
I even formated my hard drive and started over again. Installed Outlook
2007 without any Anti-Virus or Firewall to see if it would work.

Now I am at a complete loss and need some expert advice.

Thank you so much for your help :)

Does anyone know if Microsoft is aware of this problem?
I've searched MSDN, TechNet, Newsgroups, The Knowledge Base, blogs and the
list goes on and on.
So far I have not seen anything.

Hi Laura :)

Being that it is a clean hard drive it has a new OS and the only installed
application is Office 2007 which included Outlook 2007.
BTW there are no 3rd party Plug-ins

Start, type "outlook /safe" into the search box. Does it crash then
also?

In the hours of research I found many suggest scanpst.exe could be the
problem
Apparantly, this may be the cause of my problems. Scanpst.exe may not be
reapiring a corrupted Outlook.pst file.
Please confirm with your sources.

BTW - I could copy the Outlook.log here if that helps. Let me know.

Thanks :)

You did make a copy of your PST before you ran scanpst? Or did you at
least check to make a backup of it when scanpst ran? How many times did
you run scanpst?
Did you use scanpst from Office 2007 or an earlier Office version?

Okay, my friend :)

I did exactly what you said I should do and no it does not crash.
Thanks for hanging around to help me. What do I do next?

:

Does it crash when you make a new profile without any of your current
data files as part of it?

Hi Laura :)

Being that it is a clean hard drive it has a new OS and the only installed
application is Office 2007 which included Outlook 2007.
BTW there are no 3rd party Plug-ins

Yes, it is backed up.
I ran scanpst.exe once btw does it matter how many time you run it?
I use the program I wen to C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE and double cliked the exe

Is there anyway to get through this any faster?

Sorry I put this in the wrong place.

Thanks :)

You could try and run it a second or third time on the PST.
You could also try to run the 2003 scanpst.exe on the backup copy you
made (make sure though you have another backup copy!).
What happens btw when you try and open the backup in Outlook 2007 via
the described method?

If you mean with faster that you get faster help with your problems,
then I suggest you call Microsoft Product Support. These are peer to
peer newsgroups and you are being helped by fellow users who volunteer
their time here. We don't get paid to do this, so we do it when we have
the time.

Patrick thank you so much for all the time you spent helping me. :)
I found out the PST file was corrupted and the scanpst.exe could not repair
it.
I had a good backup of my outlook.pst file. So what I did was open the good
PST and important only the missing information int the good PST.
Now it work good! :)
Microsoft needs to fix the scanpst.exe application. They also need to inform
all newsgroups, blogs, knowledege base ....etc. that scanpst.exe has
problems
This has been the most frustrating experience.

I wish you the best.
