Serious Error - Device Driver

Hey Out There: I'm having so many problems with this system! This has
happened 3 or 4 times now. I insert a cd into my drive and system shuts
down. When it restarts (on its own) an error comes up - the system has
recovered from a serious error. Windows error reporting says - caused by
Device Driver. How do I know which device driver?
Here are the error codes:
error signature:
BC Code: 1000000a
BCP1: 000000B0
BCP2: 00000002
BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: 804EF13C
OS Ver: 5_1_2600
SP: 2_0
Product: 256_1

All ????????????? to me!!

Can anyone help? I appreciate it.

P.S. I think I should just ditch this Sony VAIO RBG 50 Media Center system
which I only bought a year ago and start all over. I didn't have these
problems with the last system I had. It never crashed once. Anyone out
there want a cheap computer???
Thanks for listening to my rant, too.

Thanks alot Denny. I'll have to do some thinking on this! I haven't
installed any new hardware or updated any drivers lately. Since it's only
happened when I insert a cd, do you think it's my dvd drive driver? I was
looking through all my driver info and every one says they are working
properly. I'm stumped! But, thanks for the link and I'll read more and see
what I can figure out. In the meantime, I'm going to shop for a new system
and maybe I can ditch my Sony!!

Do you have Daemon tools installed on that machine?

I had a problem exactly like you were reporting.

I used windebug to debug the dump files created by the crash found the
faulty driver quickly.

To learn how to use windebug, search for following
windbg dump

I'm not sure if I do but I'll check. Thanks for the tip!

Hi Terry.

If the suggestion from Vicky Vale does not help you to sort out the
problem then post a response back here. There is another method of
identifying the faulty driver.

What you are looking for is the device driver that is using memory
address 804EF13C (parameter 4 of your error message).

Good luck

my message led me to the driver of a flash storage medium usb. the stupid
thing is this uses the windows xp drivers. what then got crazy was that the
error transferred to my laptop (wireless connection)
i have been going through and getting rid of rubbish on my computors and did
regseeker on the PC. I had a problem with norton 2006 so got rid of that and
installed avg. Then after making an apointment with my tech decided to do a
final system restore. It worked on both machines. still have no idea what was
wrong and will test the removable storage on the lap top again.
