Separate E-mail

Hi! Sorry to be having so much trouble... I'm using Outlook 2003, and only one user on XP because that seems to be the only way to get our internet call waiting to work consistently. So I've tried to create two identies in Outlook so we can view our own e-mail accounts, like we used to have it under Outlook Express. I've created two "profiles" with the different e-mail accounts now, but no matter which one I click on, it downloads my husband's e-mail. I don't seem to be receiving e-mail that is actually to me. Usually I'm pretty good at figuring out a new program, but Outlook is stumping me for some reason. Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Select Start | Control Panel | and open the Mail applet.

Select the Show Profiles button.

Select the first account, and then select Properties | E-Mail Accounts |
Next

How may accounts are listed? If you select the account (or each account)
listed and then select Change, what is listed as the address? Verify this
address is not the same for both profiles.

Also, how are you selecting the different profiles?

Again, select Start | Control Panel | and open the Mail applet.

Select the Show Profiles button.

Which option is checked for the, "When starting Microsoft Office Outlook..."
option?

Okay, for first profile
One account is listed. If I click "change", the e-mail address is my husband's address

For the other profile
One account is listed. If I click "change", the e-mail address is my own address

Under "Logon Information", the User Name and Password are the same for both profiles since we share internet access

For "When starting Microsoft Office Outlook", I have "Prompt for a profile to be used" selected. When Outlook starts, it asks what profile to use

Okay... before posting this, I did realize that there was one place that had my name instead of server in it, so I changed that, and now I've sent several test mails to myself and my husband. I have received a couple of them, and my husband also did. Neither of us received all of them, which I cannot explain

I've got progress, though! Your questions made me look at all that stuff, so thank you! I'll keep trying and see what I can do. Though we appear to have had some sort of server error now, and now I can't even get Outlook to open at all. Maybe that will correct itself in a bit

Well, it almost sounds as if you're opening the same account which has two
e-mail addresses assigned to it. Most ISPs give you the option to add
additional e-mail addresses, but you then use those e-mail addresses or at
least the account name (whatever is before the "@" sign in the address) to
sign in to that account and check its messages.
