Sent messages disappearing

In the last 10 days, I notice messages I've sent are nowhere to be found.
They leave the Outbox, recipients are getting them, but they do not show in
my Sent Messages folder and I cannot find them anywhere.

What version of Outlook are you using? I ask because some versions
are a bit different from others, and the instructions below would be
better suited for you if I knew what version. However, I will go on
the assumption that you have Outlook 2003.

Open Outlook. Then Select from the Menu Bar:
- TOOLS
- OPTIONS
- E-MAIL OPTIONS... Button
- Check to see if you have a check mark next to "Save copies of messages
in Sent Items folder". If the check mark is not on, place one next to it.

Thank you....yes, I am using 2003....I already checked that and the box is
checked correctly. However it is acting exactly like that box is NOT checked.
What is very strange is this just started happening in the last few days and
I've made no changes to my computer.

- Open Outlook
- Select TOOLS menu
- Select OPTIONS
- On the "Preferences" tab Click the E-MAIL OPTIONS... button.
- Click the "ADVANCED E-MAIL OPTIONS..." button

Remove the check mark from the box next to: "In folders other than
the inbox, save replies with original message".

- Click the OK button
- Click the OK button
- Click the OK button

Did this help?

I really appreciate your effort, but that setting is also already as you
described. Also, don't know if it has anything to do with the sent messages
issue, but my Outlook also recently "forgot" all the e-mail addressees, i.e.
when you start typing the person's name/address and it gives you name(s)
automatically. Just another weird thing that has happened recently out of
the blue.

Is this an account at work?
Do you know if you use the Exchange Server?
Have you recently signed on to your account from a different
machine than usual?
