Ebony High

Dear, Mr. Bethea,

Hi my name is Ebony High and I am currently a senior attending E. E.
Smith High School. Being a senior, a requirement to graduate is to complete
the senior project. The purpose of the senior project is to provide an
opportunity for the student to explore their career interest and research
and document information relevant to that topic. Within this project the
student must: select a career, find a mentor who is a professional currently
working in that field, spend 15hrs with that mentor, complete assigned tasks
and complile necessary documentation in a portfolio, write an 8-10 page
paper on career topic in MLA format, create a physical project, prepare an
8-10min speech presenting the students paper and project, and finially
present the project at the end of the semester. The research paper is 50%
of the students senior project grade;the oral presentation is the other 50%.
The senior project is 25% of the students grade however if the student does
not complete this project, they will not be allowed to graduate. Each
student must choose an adult mentorfor this project. the mentor must be: an
expert in his/her career field with the proper credentials, currently
working in that field, at least 25 years of age, someone available to be
contacted by a teacher advisor occasionally, someone other than a family
member. The function of the mentor is to serve the student as a guide.
Mentors are not expected to do the work, however, the mentor should be
committed to helping the student overcome difficulties that the student may
encounter when pursuing this career. The duties of the mentor are as
follows: mentors must approve the student's physical projectand proposed
paper topic (if they do not approve either they should suggest revisions
that would make the paper acceptable), mentors should be in a contact with
their student on an average of once a week for the duration of the project
and should be willing to be available to the student on the regular basis,
mentors should be able help students confront technical aspectsand advise
them when they run into difficulties, mentors must write a letter of
agreement to the students' English teacher and co-sign the mentor
information sheet, mentors must sign off on the mentor log sheet indicating
the time they spent with student, mentor must sign off on the physical
project indicating their approval and finially the mentormust sign off on
the rough draft if it meets their approval. The reason for my contacting
you is because the career field of my choosing is dealing with child
protection which is in the field of social work. I was wondering with your
consent if it would be possible for me to work with someone in this field.
If possible please contact me at (e-mail address removed), call at (910)
717-5884 or mail a letter at 1617 Gibson street. Please and Thank You.

Sincerly,
Ebony High

Ebony, it is very likely that you intended to e-mail this to someone, but
you have posted it to the world in two newsgroups devoted to questions and
answers about Microsoft Access database software. Good luck with your
project and with finding an appropriate mentor.
