Sending messages that aren't in outbox!!!

Please help if you can, I for some reason am sending 35 messages that aren't
even in my outbox or anywhere else, i deleted all my messages the other
night, then had a problem (not sure what), so deleted my account, then set it
up again and this is what happened. My pop and smtp settings are correct, so
stuck now what to do. When I cancel the sending and close microsoft outlook
down, it won't open again. Any help would be great,
