Sending Large Files

P

Peter Harding

Every time I send a large file 1Mb plus I get an error
message toward the end of transmission. The file
sometimes gets sent and sometimes not. Outlook continues
to try and send around 5 times.

Can anyone suggest a fix please.

Peter,

No, really...that's my real name...:)

The size of the files you send are typically restricted
only by your ISP (not Outlook), and your mail account
limit. You need to check your ISP's mail size limit, and
whether or not you have "junk" stored in your mailbox on
the ISP server.

Cheers,
Bill

Actually, I'm having the same problem. I did NOT have
this problem with the same ISP prior to installing
Outlook 2002. It's not my ISP. Any other suggestions?

I know of no settings in Outlook that would restrict the
size of an e-mail or attachment. You might want to check
your e-mail account setup within OL, and make sure that
you don't have the "leave messages on server..." box
checked. Most POP3 and IMAP mail accounts are size
restricted, and if they are near full, you can't send or
receive anything that would exceed the limit.

One of my e-mail accounts is restricted to 8MB, and if I
try to send something that is around 5-6MB I sometimes
get an "unable to send" message. This is usually because
my mailbox (on the ISP server) has filtered spam in it
that has not yet been trashed.

Cheers,
Bill
