Sending Attachments

I sent an email to my friend with an attachment from Word Processing. She
could not open attachment, it said: this file does not have a program
associated with it for performing this action. How can I resend it so she
can open it?

You need to determine what program was used in creating
the attachment, then find out if the email recipient has the
same program installed so the attachment can be opened.

Does your friend actually have the same program that you used to create
this document? Probably not.

Word processing is not a program, it is a type of application. It is
entirely appropriate to ask what application, out of many, was used to
create the document.

First of all, *what* word processing program did you use to create it? What
is the file's extension--the last three characters in its name, after the
dot? Whatever program it was, almost certainly your friend does not have the
same program installed.

Ask your friend what word processing program she uses, When we know what
programs the two of you sue, we should be able to tell you how to send the
file.

Or if your program can save the file as an rtf file, just send it as that.
Her program can probably open it. That's a common format that most word
processing programs can handle.

Word Processing is NOT Word. We haven't a clue what word processor the
sender used to compose the document that they attached. Couldn't been they
use a PDF "printer" to save their document to a PDF file and the recipient
doesn't have Acrobat [Reader] installed, and nothing that comes included in
Windows will open it.

It is also possible the recipient's host is screwed up in that the .doc
filetype (*if* that is what the sender attached) isn't associated with any
application, even one that is installed that would handle the formatting
within the attached document. So having the same app doesn't mean the
recipient can open it just by double-clicking on the file (which is what the
OP alludes to by the error message) but the recipient should be able to load
the application and then open the saved file.

Make sure your frind has the same app you used to create the attachment.
