Sending attachment results in multiple copies received

I was using Outlook Express 6 with Windows XP, but having trouble sending
attachments. So transferred to Outlook 2000, but problem persists. When I
send an attachment, recipients get multiple unreadable copies (the number of
copies seems related to the size of the attachment) or are advised that there
is a virus in the attachment. The text of the email is also usually
unreadable when an attachment is included, but fine when there is no
attachment.
I have used a current updated version of NAV to scan the computer and no
viruses are found. I was advised to install Spybot, Adware, and Microsoft
Antispyware, but these have not solved the problem. Can you help?
Thanks

Make sure you send using either plain text format or HTML. It's possible your
recipients have filtering in place or may not receive such large attachments,
or they are truncated. Try changing your message format to see if this helps
to begin with. Keep us posted.

Thanks for your reply. I am already using "plain text" to send messages.
Under the "Plain Text Settings" tag the specifications I have are: "MIME"
checked, Encode text using - "None", and automatically wrap at 76 chars when
sending.

One anomaly is that when I send messages with attachments to myself,
although I can watch it being received multiple times, when the last one
comes in it gets rid of all but the last message and in the message byline I
get the title of the message plus [10/11] for example, or [14/15] etc. When I
was using Outlook Express 6, I could also see the message being sent 11 or 15
times, but now with Outlook 2000 it appears to be sending the message only
once although multiple copies are received.
I can actually open and read the attachment perfectly whereas when I send it
to others they can't read it and they get multiple copies and gibberish in
the text.

Does this give you any more clues?
Thanks raf
